Hi, just a question for you. Is the factory brake controller on my 2012 GMC compatible with this system? We're picking up our 31SL next week and this will be one of our first upgrades. Thanks.

Not to dispute Ron, but if it's the Factory installed Disc you'll need an Interface Module, if you're going to have it done at MORryde they will install the interface, now if Ron or his team is doing the install they will add the interface.
If it's a Do It Yourself, you will need to get the module along with the rest of the parts.
GMs (up until recently) require the interface module to fake out the onboard controller into thinking it's talking to standard electric drum brakes, as GM sends a digital signal down the brake line looking for the low resistance of the brake magnets, so the interface module simulates that resistance which then tells the GM TV to now send a DC signal to control the brakes.
Been there done that!

The controller is compatible as the brakes work off the existing controller just fine. The resistor/interface module simply gets rid of the erroneous "trailer not connected" message. The resistor/interface module has no effect on braking. The only exception is the 2011 GM where the controller must see a trailer connected signal to send any voltage down the blue wire.

I've converted a couple of classic type cars to disc brakes, but I think I'll leave this project to the pros. I know I don't want to get the "trailer not connected" erroneous or not.

I have a 2010 Chevrolet Duramax with the internal controller. This was also my concern when I ordered my early 2017 31SL . Everything worked perfectly when I picked up the trailer from the dealer . I believe Redwood installed the compatible module as part of the original build.

We just picked up our new 31SL today after a couple of hiccups were fixed. So after about 40 miles of stop and go traffic, I'm ready for the discs! I was wanting to order one with heavier axles and disc brakes, but they have discontinued this model. Thus, I'll be adding safety after the fact.
