I have the Curt 24 and rotaflex pin box. We just finished a 3700 mile trip and they both worked great. No chucking and banging. The only problem I have is I am out of adjustment to increase the clearance on my bedrails. I only have 5" and ended up catching the trim strip under the front on the tonneau cover rail pulling out of a gas station onto the street. I ordered the new equiflex pin box today which will gain me 4 1/2" more adjustment. The trailer sits level now so I will more than likely have to add 4" blocks to the suspension to level it out. I am also lowering the stabilizers to get them closer to the ground

AA Yes we do have the tri-glide. Love it. Our ride is really smooth going down the road and we don't have anything but factory suspension on the truck. (No airbags, helper springs, fancy shocks, etc.)

Thanks for clarifying Jim. Like I said I might have over analyzed my height, but it sounds like it works great on yours so I might have been fine.

Soon to add our signature/pix of our new 2015 GK with Gen-set, W/D, Trav'ler, Dual Unigards, Disks, Trail-Air. On Labor day we picked up our Truck; a 2015 GMC 3500HD Denali, DRW, Duramax. Sweet truck! Dealer is recommending a 20K lb. Reese Hitch. Looking for hitch recommendations on this set up; hopefully to avoid various mods to level out the Redwood. I do expect the pin weight to exceed 3.7K. Although a seasoned camper, this is my first 5er, and the first truck I have ever owned, discounting the Suburban which pulled the TT.

In my opinion you couldn't go wrong with the B & W with Companion 5th wheel. It is VERY easy to hook/unhook regardless of any angle & very easy to remove by yourself & leaves a flat truck bed. I wouldn't take for mine & if I ever trade trucks I'll have another B & W.

Yeah it was a little emotional straying out of the Ford family. After the wife saw the Dodge her only comment was "that "other" one sure looks boring".

Honestly, I have a number of both here in Honduras and they all perform about the same, and my operators (and roads) beat the #### out of them. The Rams tend to be a tiny bit more sensitive to the high sulfur content in our fuel. Not quite sure why that is but it won't be an issue in the US anyway.

Well I have never owned a Chrysler product in my life and I made fun of anybody that owned them. I can still hear my father " I can hear a Chrysler crank up from a mile away" and he would not own one. I have been a FORD only man since 1981 but they lost me on the 2004 F-350. I can say other than the cheap tires they put on them and one re-flash at 900 miles I have 42,000 and it has never been in the shop other than the free oil changes they give you! The 15,000 mile oil change interval is great, the fuel filters are a whole different mater, expensive and required every 10k on mine. I must admit the body does not seem to be as well built as a Ford but I wanted the Cummins What an engine!

We have had our Curt Q24 in our GMC 3500 HD for a little over 3 years now, great hitch, towed coast to coast with it, no issues.

I have read through this whole thread with interest. Question? Has anyone on here, or anyone you know use the Anderson Hitch with the RW? It is a very unique hitch and is of interest to me for the light easy to install and remove feature. It also has a unreal weight rating. My only reservation is the Gooseneck type of hitching. However this is a very different gooseneck.

I have no experience with it, but just met a couple in NM that had it & had nothing but praise, realistically though he has only had it a couple months.

I would have some serious reservations. For one, I would want a letter from Lippert that use of it will not void frame warranties. You don't list what model you have but the RL and FB models have a tendency to form a crack on the drivers side just forward of the bedroom slide. If this is caused by some frame flex ( which many of us believe) you are probably going to add to it by changing the fulcrum point of the hitch.

Just my .02 but I wouldn't do it.

I would be very cautious here. Do your "due diligence".

I have heard that goose neck hitches can cause issues with the frame on the 5th wheel and void the warranty for some manufacturers......don't know about Redwood.

The design seems to be very light weight. I would be skeptical about the ratings and test results they are putting forth. I personally would rather use an over designed/rated hitch than one that is tested just to make it's ratings look good. JMHO

Don't forget with the Andersen, you now have to raise the front of the RW a little higher to go over the Ball, you have to be almost dead on to get the receiver to drop on the ball, then the big kicker, you have to install the safety chains for use in many states, which are available for purchase according to Anderesen.
We moved to a 5th wheel to get away from a Ball hitch, so I have no plans to go back to one.

I was across from a guy in Disney this year that had a gooseneck... It took him forever to get DIRECTLY OVER the ball to allow him to hook up... Not for me..
