Confused

Hi all
I have a 2008 2500HD, GAS 6.0. Just bought a new Redwood 31SL. Some say I am ok with this as a pull vehicle. Others say it is not. I see on here a lot of you have the 3500HD dualies. As I look at some of the 3500's specs I do not see any diff in the vehicle pulling weights over the 2500HD.
What am I missing here.

What are the gvwr, gcwr, front and rear gawr, and actual axle weights of your tow vehicle? as well as the cab configuration - CC 2 door, etc ???

What are the pin wgt, gvwr, and ACTUAL weight of your rv?

this may or may not be correct for the rv:

Exterior Length 34' 9"
but it's a start to your calcs


but, at first glance, if the max towing capacity for your truck is 9800, you will be seriously overloaded with a 16k trailer even if it only weighs 13k

A lot of salesmen say "It Will Pull It", which it may or may not depending on the engine, transmission combo. The main issues are the pin weight is too much for a 2500 and a gas engine does not have an exhaust brake for stopping.

As Johnboy stated you need to review each category of weight - axles, GVW trailer, pin weight and GCVW (truck & trailer).

I highly doubt a 6 year old 250 with gas engine will be anywhere close to meeting the specs, even for the 31SL.

I have a gas 2012 f-250 upgraded tires and a 4.30 rear axle, I have a 36fl it gets loaded on the trailer axles and back.All other floor plans get loaded on the axles and forward increasing pin weight which will probably push you over your max payload

I have the 2012 F450 and my specs was 24,000 pounds, I still have plenty of the overload springs left with my 2013 Redwood 36FB hooked up.

Max towing on my 2500hd was about 12k. Payload was about 2500. Payload is where you will get in the most of a predicament. Most redwoods, plus passengers, propane, anything you put in it, goes over your payload.
