From what I've read, the Jury is still out on swivel wheel trailer/whatever. Some say the LEOs still consider them a trailer while some don't. This whole Double Towing issue is a crap shoot. Yep, I've talked to folks that say they do it all the time in numerous states and never been given a look. But what happens if that LEO got out of the wrong side of the bed, who wants to be leaving something by the side of the road. You as the owner/tow'er have to make the decision.

I watched a Cardinal with a swivel wheel pull out of the gas station up here in the mountains and holy buckets!!, that additional 8 or 10 feet made his rear swing about the same as the Titantic! I personally would have issues with that, these things have a broad enough swing by themselves.

Dave...........my 36RL with Trail-Air Tri-Glide measures 40 feet 2 inches includeing ladder to the forward tip of the shock aborber. So, measure your truck from the hitch pin forward (compensate for the part of the Tri-Glide forward of the pin) and you will be very close.

Thanks Guy,

I'd like to pull my enclosed 16 ft V trailer behind the Redwood but I'm afraid it would be too much and I don't know how to hook up the brakes since the Redwood has disk and the utility has electric. It would be a sharp looking combination though.

Dave, if you hook that up you better get a Train Whistle on the Truck. Guessing you're 58 to 60 feet with just the RW, so with your enclosed trailer behind you'd be pushing 75 feet easy.

Dave...........did your RW trailer not come with the pigtail at the rear receiver? My 2012 36RL has. The only thing that I have used it for so far is an extra brake light that mounts into the receiver.

You're right, that trailer is 20 foot long. I had that custom made for hauling paper. It's almost 8 ft tall on the inside and has 2 5000 lb axles under it. Everything is aluminum including the frame, that also built for the extra weight.

Just give her a few good magazines and some bottle water, she'll be OK

Yes it came with the pigtail but it's only the 4 wire plug. That trailer has brakes on both axles. The problem is that the 2 trailers would have different types of breaking systems. I don't really want to put another controller on my dash and then run another wire to the trailer but I guess I'd have to.

I guess I might just have to buy a different trailer that's smaller and shorter. Since it's so tall, my family teases me because they say it looks like a horse trailer going down the road.

I don't think my 31SL came with a pigtail at the hitch. Was that an option or is it hidden or did Redwood quit installing them?

Shane,
I was real close to a toy hauler, the Tesla, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Like you said, the quality is not there, and 1/3 of the toy hauler is the garage. If I don't bring my Harley with me, then that is a waste of living space to me. Sure you could use it as storage, but the living space is too reduced for my taste. When I decided on the RW I knew I would have to consider the fact I may not be able to take my Harley with me, so my back up plan if I am unable to find a trailer to haul my Harley would be to rent a bike when I get to my location.

Dave,
That is a nice looking trailer. It would look real good behind your RW.

Not all of them did as they really didn't want you pulling another thing that needed lights, etc

I had them add it to mine before I left the dealership...

The other problem I had with the toy haulers is you need a pull through site. If in a back in can't open up the back

Aton ant,
That is a good point that I didn't think about. That would be a "huge" addition to the tail swing. I believe these swivel trailers are called Tote's. I had been looking at them because you load your bike sideways and therefore it would be a shorter trailer, but the hitch weight from these trailers was well above the allowed 300 pounds, so I took them off my list, and after what you mentioned about the tail swing, I'm sure I would never own one.

Shane,
Very true, but have you seen the ones that the ramp converts to a patio? Some have an awning that comes out to cover the patio and railings around the ramp...really nice. If I had a toy hauler with this feature I would unload my bike and then back in so I could use the patio.

Your right but you wouldn't to be able to garage it at night and would sit outside the whole time you there.
The little tag along trailer would be good if enclosed
The overhang on the back just means watching when you make your turns. I am used to that from hauling power poles during my career that swing out into the next lane while turning.
As far as the hitch goes it can be reinforced to haul 1000 lbs if need be

We've talked about a toy hauler several times. Like others have already said, the garage takes a lot of space from the floor plan. The "Full House" looks good but still not complete. New Horizon also makes the toy haulers that could work.

Mine came as a standard item. It was strapped on top of the front end of the receiver. But, I had heard that Redwood stopped supplying the harness in 2013. I don't know what the current status is.
