Well I don't know about being better Americans, but I sure feel better. My long time Dodge rival and camping buddy just bought his first Ford last night for that very reason, and I never thought he would change brands.

Here nor there though. Its all just politics, the trucks are all good.

That might be a good business opportunity learning to repair & paint wrecked aluminum Fords. I can already envision some drunk trying to crush it on his forehead.

The manufactures are trying to make these trucks lighter but the door skins are going to be so thin that the slightest touch will cause a dent.

I think they'd be better off looking at more gears in the transmissions and other drive train items. Maybe someday these trucks will be like the trains....diesel electric.

Aluminum has been out for a while - Landrover uses it. Expensive to repair but I think that is getting better as well.

However, I would have rather seen them focus on that small diesel they keep talking about.

I know. It just irks me when the bailouts are brought up, knowing Ford borrowed, at the same time as the others, billions of government money also. They just claimed it was for EV and other high milage research. There's no doubt that money helped prop up Ford, just like the others.

I'm glad it irks you Jerry! I've been irked ever since I learned GM will not be paying back $26 Billion of the near $50 billion it took, and they are near bankrupt again with a regime practically escorted out the door! Ford borrowed....5? And have held to the payback terms as originally agreed? How can that even compare to the gluttony demonstrated by GM?

Beyond fun now! I'm going to pour a whiskey and relish in you being irked while I screw these back on my license plates

That's great I didn't know that stuff got that far from ford plants. They sell stuff at the plant like t-shirts and bumper stickers with the ford emblem and built without your tax dollars on them. Ford did take money for high milage electric and fuel cell development, came up with a car that got 300 and some odd miles per gallon. The problem is the fuel cell was hydrogen which is basically a bomb.

Well, I thought this forum was an RV forum, and not a political forum. If I wanted to debate politics, I wouldn't be here talking RVs, I'd be on a political forum. And, it's always the same 2-3 here that bring it up. Both parties brought us the bailouts, and if the auto industry had been allowed to die, the economy backlash would have surely sent us over the edge into depression. Why don't we just discuss the good/bad mechanical attributes of each auto, and RV, and leave the politics out of it?

That's funny, but untrue. Bush bailed out the auto industry.

That's the biggest point. You have to make them match, if at all possible. That's why I get browns and black Rvs, to match the color of ALL trucks I owned in the last 10 years, black.

Jerry, Mike Naughton is the son of John Naughton that was one of the VPs of Ford back in the 70s and 80s, so there is a very strong love of Ford there.

Looks great. I love the King Ranches, they smell like a saddle when new.

Ah, so its OK for you to bring in the politics until you are tired of it, then you want to reform the rest of us! If I read back, YOU are the one that got defensive and started debating.

PS, I'll continue to throw out the bail out every chance I get until they either fold or pay it back.

A very beautimous truck! I'm assuming it is black? or Kodiak Brown?

Even though our white does not match the cream in the redwood, our base color on the Redwood is the gold and it looks like our truck was built for a match.
