OK, Dually time.

I'll be getting a F350 Ford with the factory 5th wheel prep. What suggestions for which Hitch to buy that will fit the factory mounts ? I'm towing a 36RL with a Trail Air pin box.

Also, it looks like I will have a pristine PullRite SuperSlider 20k hitch for sale. Best place to advertise it ?

Last question - I'm reasonably handy as a shadetree mechanic ~ have any of you done your own hitch mounting and if so is it a project for the do it yourselfer or should I have it professionally done ? Have to say, most of the service work I've seen on the RV's, I would've rather done it myself and done it right.

I was preped with my F450 as well, but the Redwood dealer included the B&W Companion hitch in with buying the Redwood and had a muffler shop put it in. It is a 5 attachments removable hitch with gooseneck ball as well. I figured I might need it down the road.

I worked it in the deal of my new truck. They took it from one truck and put it in another.

I was told the hitch is a Reese all you do is drop it in the four holes and lock it down I wish Dodge would do it on the 2014 that would be a good excuse to buy another truck

Fords with the factory predrilled mounting holes are designed for Reese fifth wheel hitches. They drop right in and are easy to remove.

Agreed on the Reese, its the only hitch that drops into the four corner attachment holes in the Ford prep package. There are a few choices, one is the Reese Elite which you can get in either 16K or 25K. We have the Trail Air pin-box and we went with the 25K model which works great...no problems.

I have the Reese Elite 25k hitch and just love it. This model is a below bed mount which, like the Ford prep, allowsfull use of the truck bed

Good luck hunting

I have a Trailer Saver BD3. It has an adapter and drops right into the ford factory mounts. It has firestone airbags in it to stop the chucking that a 5th wheel does.

I love mine

Oh Hensley makes it!

We too have the Ford hitch prep and the Reese 25K hitch that Ford supplies. Like the fact that the truck bed is flat with no obstructions when the hitch is removed.

I also have the Trailer Saver Hitch only mine happens to be in a Chevy. Before that I had one on our medium duty Freightliner. I have to agree, it's a great hitch.

My wife and I are 37 and going Fulltime. I just bought a 2010 Ford F350 with the camper package. Previous owner installed a B&W goosneck hitch, so I got the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch. No rails required, it just drops in the Goosneck hitch and good to go. When I want the 5er hitch out, hitch comes apart in two pieces and leaves bed totally empty, no rails. I can also still pull a gooseneck if I want, in about 3 minutes. Trying it out this weekend. Only $799, I put it together in 30 mins, with an 18K capacity. I'm pulling an 2013 36FB.

We have the B&W 5th wheel companion hitch....the Professor and a relative installed in about an hour. We love the 'Made In America' product and it works like a charm!

We also have the Ford prep package and use the Reese Elite 25K. It drops into the 4 smallreceivers in the bed, you rotate 4 levers a 1/4 turn and it's ready for use.
