Is it possible you transposed a number ?!?!
Where did you get that dry weight ?
Did you weigh it at a certified scale ?

I mean redwood's website could be wrong,
but that weight seems out of range for any redwood I've seen, including the 38gk... which weighed in @ 13,777

I think you misread something. Redwood gives a dry weight of 13,900 on the 38fl.

Dry Weight 13904

On the 36FL, with quartz, but no genny our dry weight was 13,400, so 16,100 seems a tad high.

Even loaded we are about 15,800lbs

Boy I hope so. I took the 16k number from the tag Lazydays put on it. 13k would give me way most room to work.

Btw, today the Firestone Ride-Rite air bag install went really well. Have 50 PSI in the bags right now to drive around and test them. So far the truck feels stiffer but no leaks that I can tell. Looking forward to testing them when we are towing.

So do you people fill them before or after you hook up the coach?

We have found that the best ride for us is around 60 - 70 lbs. I drop it to 10 when not pulling.

depends on your pin wgt, your trucks specs, and the road conditions...
each of us may have a different sweet spot...
measure your rear wheel well height unloaded and bring it close to that height once loaded, but not higher.

Mine is right at 45 psi set with the handy dandy wirelessONE remote from Airlift while inside the cab

When I do it is not important just so long I set it the same when disconnecting or connecting so the leveling system will automatically come back to the right height !

Ken, I would bet Lazydays messed up your weight or the sticker. Our 38GK weight sticker from Redwood, signed by the Fox guy is 14525 dry with genny, washer & dryer, res fridge, & dishwasher.

I found that the more solid my suspension is on my truck the less chucking I've experienced. As long as the truck is the solid foundation, the tri-glide "rocks and rolls" off of it. When I have my bags set at a lower pressure, the truck bounces on each dip and then the tri-glide is also moving. This action has the 2 units working against each other.

On the road I keep my bags set at 90-95 while traveling but I also carry a lot of weight that other may not. I have the extra 35 gallons of fuel in the external fuel tank and i always carry 1/3 tank of fresh water. I figure I'm putting over 4300-4600 pounds in the bed of my truck.

With the air bags, I fill them after hooking up and I dump the air back to about 20 before unhooking.

I also have the wireless one (different remote). I don't put any air in the bags until the trailer is connected. Then run anywhere between 50-80 psi on the road depending on what rides best. Once I'm ready to unhook, I'll lower the front legs on the Redwood, take bag pressure down to 5 psi and pull away. I do this so that the truck drops when I disconnect. I mistakenly didn't air down once and the truck shoots up once the pin releases from the hitch. Kind of scared me!

Hello Ken,

We too had your same exact situation, I can't tell you how much better the ride became with Air Bags installed on the truck. Once that had been accomplished it's just been trail and error dialing in the preferred pressures on the truck and the trail air pin box. Unfortunately, every once in a while our 38FL still gives us a buck to let us know who's the boss.

Yup Lazydays messed up the weight they posted on the coach when I took delivery. I checked the RW sticker, it shows 14,190. They were off by nearly 2,000 lbs.

This is good news!

Wow, that is heavy.
Our 38FL shows an as shipped weight of 14,040.
We have the Tri Glide Hitch, Dual Pane Windows, Fireplace, King Bed and such, only thing we do not have is a generator.
Also we have the NorCold Refrigerator, not the Samsung Residential Refrigerator

I have another question, the RW Website shows the 38FL with a GVWR of 16,500 lbs. but the sticker on the left front of our 38FL shows a GVWR of 16,200 lbs.

I emailed Bill Hodge at RW and he said he did not know why it was different and forwarded the question to engineering, no answer from them yet.

So GVWR is the "not to exceed" weight?
