I had over 200,000 on my 2001 MonteCarlo when I retired in 2009. It didn't use any oil and averaged 30+ MPG.

My wife drives a 2007 Dodge Caliber has 227,000 miles and burns about 1 cup of oil every 7000 miles. The engine is still so quiet you can't hear it running. Now the front ball joints are another thing. I have replaced them twice. No other problems as of yet.(knock on wood). I use Rotella T6 5w-40 full synthetic diesel truck oil in it. Everyone told me I would ruin the engine. What ever. The engine calls for a 5w20. Most car manufacturers use a light weight oil to up the mileage rating with out care as to how long the engine will last. Diesel oil has high concentration of ZDDP (zinc) to protect the lifters and keep the oil from shearing under the pressure. I do oil analysis on all my vehicles before I change oil the track changes. Over the past 227,000 miles on the cheapest car Dodge made, I have 1 lifter out of spec. by .003in. The extra detergent in the oil keeps the engine super clean.

My Company Truck is a 2006 GMC 1500 with a 4.8L V8
It now has 360,000 miles on it, never had a water pump or alternator replaced, no major repairs, just brakes, tires and such.
Never had any transmission work done on it, just 100,000 mile service on Transmission.
I was assigned the truck when it had 300 miles on it, had it ever since.

Never trust what the marketing departments say.......they all spin the numbers. Right now I think all of the trucks are good trucks. I do miss my Ford but to be honest I'm not sure about the aluminum body in the new ones.

My wife has a new Navigator (Ford) that we love and I have a Chevy that's a pretty decent ride (toad) although I swore I wouldn't buy another GM. In our company we have VW TDIs and Subaru Outback. I guess I'm not very brand loyal
