I only have the original RT, as that was all that was initially available, but if buying one today I would go for the Surface 2 or Pro 2.

We are not apple fans simply because of price. We both use Samsung phones, I have a pc for work. She reads using 1 of the kindles, this is her 3rd and is looking at yet another one. She has 1 of those fancy Surface things and loves it, with keyboard, with out, depends on what she is doing. I was a mainframe programmer for many years thus my love of the pc., no apples in our offices. I just can't see spending the money for it. By the by, HATE windows 8. PIA!

Oh boy, didn't mean for this thread to digress to Apple vs PC when I started it.

I think I am going to put one of those little Apple stickers on the back of my RW and a Powered By Microsoft sticker on the back window of my F350 .

Watch out for the sticker (MAC-MICRO) inversion. You might attrack a tornado to come between truck and coach.

Like two opposing magnets - the more you back up to hook to the Redwood, the further the redwood will roll back

Ken - the Apple/PC discussions are almost as good as the Ford/GM/Dodge ones. Even remember the days when it was VHS/Beta.

I still have the VCR that I paid $1100 for in 1978 at JC Pennys. Of course we don't use it much but a few years ago I replaced the belts in it and it still works. My kids laugh at it because the crazy think weighs 35-40 lbs. I tell them I remember making payments on the damn thing when we were broke and I'm still trying to get my money out of it.

Umm, well I remember the DVD vs. Blue-ray debates - ok, only kidding .....

Now if I could just find an unlimited cell plan that would be fast enough I'd just stream

Dave - we also had one of those monsters VCR's and the price was similar. Got rid of it and all the other remaining 70's amplifiers and tape decks before leaving on this trip.

How many of you had the giant RCA Laser disc?

I went to training a few months ago and I was shocked to see the gal put in a giant disc. I know then the training material I was getting must be about 20 years old.

Didn't miss too many of the toys, but the laser disc is one I skipped, along with 8 tracks.

Ditto, never had the laser disc or 8 track. Originally started with Reel to Reel, then had tons of cassettes, then Beta VCR, VHS VCR, even an 8mm Kodak Camcorder/VCR system.
With all the money spent on those things we could have paid cash for our RW.

Technology is always changing and it's costly when it does. When we moved the office I filled up a 55 gallon garbage can with "Zip" disks. Each time I threw a disk in the can I thought about spending $15 on each of them back when the company was struggling.

Last month I found my first digital camera....wow was I proud of that piece of junk back in 1995. It's a Kodak DC1 and was about $1400 new.

I think I'm going to build a company museum. It'll be called "Lost Treasures"

How about computers. I started with a Sinclair ZX81. No hard drive, 1K RAM and it connected to the TV. No software for it so you had to learn to program in Basic. Once you wrote a program you could save it to an audio cassette.

Now that was a fun toy.

For digital cameras, I resisted for many years, keeping my trusty Canon A-1. Finally made the jump to digital when Canon brought out the 20D, but to this day still keep the old A-1, just haven't used it in years.

My first was the Commodore 64. Sounds like it was close to Oriana's Sinclair ZX81. I was going to be on the ground floor with computers. Well was I wrong, they passed me like I was standing still.I can get by, but it seems like there is more I don't know that I do.

Roger - the Commodore 64 was my next computer before getting into 386 machines. It was a fun machine, could actually do things without having to write a program.

I was on my iPAD and I followed your link above and instead of seeing an image of the assembly line - I felt this tugging feeling in my leg. What gives??

Dan,
Those are collector items for guys restoring the old cars - but I think they go back to the 50s, at least that was when my Dad had his 45 player in his 49 Mercury.
