Pin Box

Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box - Lippert 1621 - 18,000 lbs Lippert Components Fifth Wheel King Pin LC328492

I just ordered this Flex air Pin Box from E Trailer, does anybody have one, if so how is the ride with it?

That is what we have on our 38RL. It seems to help some with Road bumps. I found adding air bags to the truck even though they were not needed on our F450 took out more of the bounce and lurch and I can adjust as needed going down the road.

Our 36Fl came with the Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box can really tell the difference on going over rough bridges and roads, also have the airbags. I would recommend getting them.

We (5th Time and I and others) already have the Trail Air Tri-Glide which is the Air Cushion Pin Box. Already have Air Bags also. What we are referring to is the new Flex Air which does away with the PITA lower jaw with the rollers and replaces it with a MorRyde style pivoting Pin Head with rubber cushions.

Best of all worlds. I just can't see spending the money for a complete new pin box when the only difference is the lower jaw and pin

I think Titan Guy pretty much determined that LCI is not going to provide a kit to upgrade. Upgrade consists of buying a new pin box.

I love my tri-glide! I wouldn't change it for anything.

Don't get me wrong, happy with the Tri-Glide, but would love to do away with the banging roller pin setup. The Flex Air does that.

I know a lot of folks have had the banging issue, but mine has never done that. Just lucked out I guess.

In January at Quartzsite, I tried to get LCI to supply me the lower jaw only, no success but the Flex Air was new at that time. I would try them again.

I replaced my rotoflex with the Flex air, a huge improvement in the ride. When I hit expansion joints or pot holes, the truck and trailer float rather than bang.

I also added a gauge and pipe to make access a bit easier. With my new configuration, I have to add air every time I hook up. I can't find a leak and I don't loose air when towing so I'm not sure why. Perhaps the extra pipe allows for more expansion/contraction with exposure to sun...

BTW, I secured the pipe to wood and used double face tape to attach to the pin box to avoid drilling holes in the box.

Mine works fine - except for the occasional "big bang". I understand that if the Tri-Glide "bangs", you have to grease the ____ out of it, but some have tried this & had a real mess on their hands. That why we'd upgrade to the Flex if jaws were made available.

I ordered mine from E trailer 3 days ago. Going from the EZ- flex. Also, already have Air-Lift bags on the truck.

I got it at Summit Racing in 2009. I don't know what I paid. I did my own installation. I don't have the remote system. I located the compressor under the back seat.

Buddy ~ I bought mine direct from AirLift when they had a sale going. Was $500.00 for the bags and a wireless compressor setup. Had a local service shop do the bag install, I mounted the compressor and ran all the wiring. If you have a shop do the whole thing I would anticipate about a 4-5 hour labor charge. Might be worth checking a RV shop, they might be cheaper.

I got our WirelessOne and bags done by camping world during their one price install promotion !

Boy did that promotion go away fast when they learned how much it cost them in labor !!!

but I never had an issue with them and boy was it nice to sit in air conditioned comfort to change the bags !!!
