Tires
Haven't read a thing about tire blowouts lately. I think the last one was a couple of Marathons that were still around. Are the Westlakes holdin up?

Sorry, Brad I just turned 71 and CRS. I cant figure out how to start a new thread. I wanted to know if anyone had tried to get a Concealed hand gun qualification certificate that has been advertised on this forum.

My Westlakes have 15k on them and no issues at all. Good,even wear. I was very cautious when we bought the RW in August as I saw no reports on them so kept a very close eye on pressure and didn't tow over 65 for about the first 5000 miles. Since then I've gained more confidence so not quite as careful on speed but I'll hold between 65 and 70. I'm also interested in owner reports.

Marathon blow_out
Right front blow out with 2yr old marathons.Steel damage to the rear tire side wall. Metal damage to the right side,bottom of slide out of our 2011 36rl.
Spoke with Ron ordered and received in less than a week 4 17.5 goodyears. Installed at the campground in LaFeria,Tx. Get estimate and put through claim to Goodyear at home in Tennessee.
O well you guys warned us.

Westlakes on our 38RL are holding up good so far! About 10000 miles on them, but plan on replacing them this year to Goodyear G614's. Considerably more expensive than the Cheap Westlakes, but worth the piece of mind using Goodyear.
I am also running tire pressure monitors on all 10 tires on my Tow Truck and RV.
I always recommend RVer's purchase a Tire Pressure monitor, even if you only buy 4 monitors for your trailer, it is worth every penny.

For about the same money, or less, get a hold of Ron (Titan Guy) & get the 17.5" H rated either GY114s or Sailun & be done with tire worries.
I totally agree with using some brand of TPMS on the RW & tow vehicle, saved me a couple timesm

Tire Safe Guard is the best monitor on the market. Mainly due to the fact you can change batteries in the sensors. Other systems you have to buy a whole new sensor for around $50.00. Battery about $3.00.

^ ^ ^ ^ I agree with Danny , chat with Ron, his deals are hard to beat, and the piece of mind from running the 17.5's is priceless . .

We just got back from a trip to Kansas City where one of my GY 614s blew. The tread came completely off the remainder of the tire. With very, very little shoulder available, I was really lucky to have it happen on the passenger side where I didn't have to worry about getting run over. Called Ron and he fixed me up with a set of Sailuns. They're a narrower tire than the 614 and I'm left wondering what performance difference, if any, I'll see in the new set.

I agree with the others, bite the bullet and move up the Commercial Grade 17.5 wheels and tires.

Wheel Indentification for G Load Range tires
When changing to 235/85R16 G tires, make sure your wheel will handle the pressure.
On the back of the wheel will be molded into wheel a maximum load or maximum psi rating. A sticker does not take the place of the molded ratings.
A load range G wheel must be 3,750 lbs. or greater and/or psi rating must be 110.

we had the g614 Good years , and had a blow out in Bristol, TN , we looked everywhere for those same tires. couldn't find them,, we found Fleet Tires, and got Trailer King tires instead,, now we just we see the leaf spring is broke on the passenger side, and now have to find somewhere in Meredian Miss to replace it. Hope we didn't mess up.

If you didn't notice, this is a 4 1/2 year old thread.
I'd recommend getting the GY 614s or Sailun S637s to replace those Trailer Kings ASAP. The Trailer Kings have a very poor reputation due low mileage young age blowouts, aka China Bombs.
As for the spring, find a local trailer repair or spring shop, probably cheaper & easier located than a RV shop.

I had them on my equipment trailer when I bought it used , thought the dated code is just over a year old on all 5 (inc spare) its good for a few years. Had one blow at 2.5 years old and never had the rated weight on top of it. Sailun 637 or good year 614 is the two tires I would run on 16" wheels
