I am looking to add a Scooter rack, Scooter weighs 280 lbs. Does anyone know if the hitch will hold that? Appears that at 280 lbs plus 47 lbs for the rack I would be a little over the rating?
I was told that the 300lb was the limit on paper and that was a conservative number because there was a fear of too much weight and legalities. In my opinion.....I wouldn't worry about being 50lbs over.
The other option is to put a hitch on the front of your truck. I am seriously looking at that option as this would work when I use my Bigfoot truck camper which is 10'6" and wouldn't work out very well on the back of the truck

Looks like I have more capacity at the rear of the trailer. In speaking with Redwood, they seem to think there should not be a problem but, planning on additional receiver reinforcement just to be sure. Only have 300lbs capacity on the TV front axle and at least 600 lbs. on the rear trailer axle.

The problem with putting a hitch or carrier on the front of a truck is the air flow restriction to the engines. Beside getting bugs on anything put there.
