Trailair Compressor

I got really tired of dragging out a compressor every time we pulled out of storage, just to put a few bursts of air into that Trailair tri-glide! Last year I installed a cheap Air-Lift compressor in the pin box, but never hooked it up. This last weekend, I finally hooked it up! Yippee.

Not the ideal way - I would have much preferred a Wireless One controller by Air-Lift so I could control it from the cab, but I figured $300 is money better spent on getting my shackles replaced, so I opted for a momentary switch and a air bleed button out by the drivers side near the hitch light switch. Piece of cake. The compressor fits nicely up in the pin box!

Great idea. What model air lift did you use? I'm checking Amazon and there are several..

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,
It was a 16060, same as when came with my truck springs.

Well had some more time over Labor Day and some extra parts (Not to mention [Piper Guy] Vaughan sent me some AWESOME labels), so I embellished the Trailair compressor system.

The guage even lights up with the park lights, or with the switch next to it. The panel now has a air chuck in case none of what I did works someday

Bring it on over! Just in time for the leaves turning - but that probably sounds silly to a guy from the east

It was a mix mash. Originally I bought the kit to put on my old truck, but the Dealer put air bags on, so I used the compressor for my buddies boat, but saved the rest, then bought another cheaper compressor (the one you listed I think)...so on (my wife hates me).

I think the original kit with compressor and gauge was $99 a few years ago.

However - the Wireless One would have been a much better fix - they maintain the pressure you select and all wireless. I just didn't want to spend that much again after putting that system on the new truck.

yea... I just have a hard time spending money on something that SHOULD work as advertised.... Why do I need to constantly fill my air bag on the pin box ? the bags on my truck stay at psi......

Again, my reason was different. It's not a leak issue, rather the load changes whether I'm heading out full of water and gear, heading home with no water, or heading to storage with no water or gear. For me, that is almost 1,000 psi pin weight difference between modes, which changes the ride on that trailair significantly. I just got tired of dragging out a compressor and climbing in that truck bed to fill.

Same here ~ I carry a 12 volt small compressor in my truck storage box and have a 12 volt plug socket that I wired into the bed through one of the Upfitter switches. When the hitch needs air, just pull the little guy out and plug in. Like Brad, need to change it depending on load.
