Had a problem with our Tri-Glide, called Lippert and they sent me a new lower jaw with the fixed plate. Says it is the 21k. Great that they stepped up and replaced it.

Rick
They sent just the lower portion for the TriGlide? Was it the Roto flex base? Mine is starting to bang back & forth very badly now even though greased.

Danny - I believe they only replace it with a fixed plate.

When my Tri Glide's glide plate broke / failed in the middle no where, I had it welded in an emergency repair making it a fixed lower plate.
Ride towing was horrible after that, lots of chucking and such, current MoRyde Pin Box rides great.

Lippert must really getting worried about a Law Suit. Previously others, my self included tried to get a replacement or at least the Lower Jaw and were flat told "NO WAY".
Makes you wonder if there has been some serious mishaps causing them to change their tune.

True . .

I called about mine and was told it sounded NORMAL . . . I swapped mine out to the Flex-Air on my own dime for " Piece Of Mind" .

For those of you that have changed out the movable plate on the Tri-Glide hitch two questions:

1. Does the new fixed plate lower the hitch and change the distance between the bed rails and overhang?

2. Since my hitch is not broken, as far as I know, what would be wrong with welding the moveable plate for a fix instead of installing the new fixed plate? I think some have had to do this as an emergency fix.

Yes, I had the lower Jaw Glide Plate welded together when two of the 3 Glide Rods broke
The Glide Plate failed in Alabama on the way to Texas, after I had it welded I completed my trip to Texas, then back to Tennessee for Thanksgiving that year and ended up in Florida for Christmas. The welded plate did great, no problems with welding the plate stationary.
Note: I did remove the lower jaw plate to take it to the welding shop to get it welded. The shop welded both sides of the Glide Plate from front to rear

Redwood / Lippert shipped me a whole new Tri Glide Pin Box Assembly to my December address in Florida, so I changed the Tri Glide Pin Box assembly to the new one but kept the welded lower jaw for sometime incase of another failure.

Thanks for the reply Robert. Did you notice a lot of chucking when you were running with the welded plate?

So in reality, LCI is fixing the problem by removing the feature. Kind of like the Ford recall where the cruise inertia switch would cause a fire if brake fluid leaked on it, so they just disconnected the cruise control. However, Ford came back with a fix and retrofitted all effected. I don't think LCI is going to offer anyone anything beyond the fixed plate that completely takes away from the intent of the Triglide design that everyone paid extra for - a lot extra.

I guess I consider it one more thing to fix. We all paid for a unit that was not supposed to need repair for a certain amount of time. I doubt RW would or will pay for our time and expenses to fix things they should have installed correctly. Even if you have a repair center do the repairs, your time is still worth something. I know my time is valuable.

What a Surprise!

While waiting for the dealer to complete pre-delivery repairs on our 31SL, I expressed concern about the Tri-Glide pin box. The dealer said he hadn't heard of the issue, but would see what he could find out.

Well, he contacted RW, and they are going to replace it with a Flex Air. He also apologized for not being up to date on the issue. I feel like we just defused a time bomb...due in part to the postings on this forum.

Now I just need RW to deliver the materials needed for the dealer to complete the rest of the repairs so we can start enjoying our purchase.

"After three seasons of that trailair slamming every time I stop and every time I go. Filling the grease fittings. I told the dealer when I bring it in for service that pin box is leaving. I called lippert and asked them how do you stop the slamming. The customer service guy asked do I have 6 or 9 grease fittings. I said 9. He said they will warranty the pin box. They shipped the dealer a new "fixed" lower jaw.
I picked up my rig yesterday and towed it to the storage place for the winter about 50 miles. The best tow I had in three seasons. The only question is why did I wait so long. "
My dealer as well said he hadn't heard about any problems. He said all the other Redwoods on the lot had the same pinbox and they all do the same thing. After they called Lippert they called me to apologize and the replacement was a smooth easy repair.
