I agree. At the start of winter when the unit is winterized, I like to scrape all the old grease and grime off of the hitch. I also use a pressure washer to wash out the old grease and clean the unit and apply new grease to all moving parts. Store the hitch in the garage. In the spring new grease applied to the platter, and I am ready to tow.

I have used a teflon disk for nearly 5 years and it has worked well.

Use the disc, grease is way too messy!! I agree, lube the the mechanism, I give the disc & latching mechanism a shot of silicone spray occasionally, but don't smear grease on the plates & has worked for the last 10-12 years.

Same as Danny. I pull the head on the Reese each Spring and clean and lube all the pivot points, then use the Nylon disc ~ no mess

Excellent! I bought the disc, not much to it. Looks like a dinner plate with a hole in the center. I like this idea way more than the grease idea. Thanks for all of the input.

I know I'm about a month late on a response which likely means you've already made your decision. After researching extensively it came down to a Champion or Anderson because the other options wouldn't work properly with my 2015 Ram. In the end I went without the Anderson and LOVE IT! No chucking, smooth, easy to take out and leave the bed without any rails for all my other activities, and the least expensive option on the market! And to top it off, I can call the actual area rep any time if I have a question. Great hitch!

When I purchased my curt 24k it came with a disc and a fake plastic pin in the jaw... I was wondering if this is a actual disc to use or if it's just a sample like the fake king pin
