2016 National Rally- Update!

All- the following message is from Redwood and the Redwood Owner's group.
Let us know if you have any questions- Hope to see you ALL at the Rally!

FWD:

This is Jay Cauble, Redwood Rally Coordinator, and I'm part of the team putting the 2016 Redwood Rally together for Redwood. The team is in the process of finalizing the complete rally schedule. We'll be posting the final event timeline after the first of February on the Redwood home page. We'll have an automated form for all to complete for registration which will be sent directly to me from the website. An event schedule will also be posted on these sites. Until final approval has been provided by Redwood, we're holding off providing the final details. We're looking forward to having a fantastic event for all to enjoy.

A couple of items I can tell you for sure is the basic rally dates are 4 - 6 August 2016 and departing 7 August 2016 at the Shipshewana South RV Park. Their phone number is 260-768-4669. You must make your RV reservations through the campground. This campground is currently closed and scheduled to reopen full time after the 15th of April. I talked with Cindy at Shipshewana South RV Park and she informed me that the office will be manned on Monday and Wednesdays from 10 – 4. As this is a group rally, you have to call in to make reservations and cannot make them through their online system. If you have made online reservations, please call the campground so that they may update your information. If you call other days, you may leave a message and they will return your call in the order it is received. Just a tidbit, if you have the time, the campground has a special of pay for 6 days and get the 7th day free. The campground takes all standard credit cards except for American express. We ask that you be patient with them and they will get back in touch.

Just a note, sites will be assigned as you arrive at the campground. If you want to be parked beside someone, you must arrive as a group together.

One of the most asked questions concerning is “will Redwood be offering minor repair items at this rally? I am pleased to announce that “YES” they will and we’re in the process of working out factory upgrades at rally prices that will additionally be offered to Redwood owners. This offering will be completed from 8 – 17 August 2016! The grand announcement will be in the rally release after the first of February 2016! We’re in the process of working out the final available upgrades and costs to an owner that chooses to have their rig updated!

We'll be having an owner’s RV maintenance course taught by Terry Cooper, Texas RV Professor, beginning 2-4 August and a second class on 8 -10 August 2016. The cost of the course is $ 296.00 for ROG non members. The cost for a paid ROG member will be $ 271.00. I'm personally attending the course and highly recommend it. The course teaches many aspects of the Redwood 5th wheel coach which will enable you to accomplish preventative maintenance and help to reduce your expenses.

The web is Redwood, Home - Redwood RV :: Full-Time Residential Fifth Wheels. Look forward to meeting you at the Rally! If you have any further question, please feel free to contact me at 931-205-0744 or usaf1949@yahoo.com.

What is a "paid ROG member"? I have not seen dues on either this site or the ROG site.

The other site may become a pay site - in lieu of ads.

A paid site with all documents and drawings (technical library) would be worth it.

I emailed Jay and asked the same question. As discussed at the 2015 Rally, the Redwood Owners Group (ROG) will have a fee attached to the membership. Jay stated that information about the fee and benefits of being an ROG member will be posted in the near future.

I asked Christian if Redwood was going to release drawings, and she hasn't answered yet. So far, Redwood believes them to be proprietary and wont release them, even to ROG.

I have been calling a lot and only get the machine. Now at least I know the days they should be open. We have never been to a rally and are looking forward to it. Where can I find more information about the course?

That's the most recent answer that's been given to me as well. :-( I haven't gotten much more information than that when asking about them.

So, I just looked at the specials that Lci will be offering and I noticed at the bottom where they state that all new 6 pt leveling systems have the 14K aluminum front landing gear. My 2013 appears to be aluminum. Is there a big change and when did they switch to that system? It also states that it requires the updated pump. So, are we all screwed if our pumps fail?

I see they're trying to sell the "Roto-Flex" pin box for $549. I got one I'll sell for $50 or it's going to the scrap yard.

If that doesn't sound like a rousing endorsement, I don't know what does.

Does anyone have any experience with the forward self-adjusting brakes?

There were a lot of the Lippert aluminum 4-steps at the RV show. I tried a few of them and not quite sure what the advantage was for going to aluminum. If anything I think they flexed more. Of course at an RV show they get a lifetime of use in one weekend.
